Urban
living can be stressful for people and their pets. All
too frequently, landlord/tenant disputes or a family’s
need to find alternative housing results in pets being
surrendered to shelters. Through education, proving
dedication, and responsible ownership, Project Canine
Urban Living Endorsement aims to reduce pet homelessness
by promoting and supporting canine living in
metropolitan areas.
The 13
week course series teaches owners how to meet their dogs’ needs
to live safely and respectfully with others in high
density environments such as apartment dwelling and
condo/townhouse lifestyles. When the owner-canine team
passes both written and handling exams, they are
endorsed to live in a growing number of rental
communities or receive an exemption to size restrictions
with participating condominium home-owner associations.
Endorsed teams will receive benefits such as a discount
on their rental and homeowner’s insurances and the
ability to patronize (with their owners) a growing
number of retail establishments.
